The Maths
Six Lines of Plain Arithmetic
Nothing hidden and nothing clever. The estimator multiplies search volume by a click-through rate for each position, then applies your own conversion numbers.

Visits today
monthly searches × CTR at your current position
- 02
Visits at target
monthly searches × CTR at your target position
- 03
Extra visits
visits at target − visits today
- 04
Extra leads
extra visits × visit to lead rate
- 05
Extra lead value
extra leads × value per lead

It is a sample curve shaped like the averages published in industry studies: steep at the top, long and flat below position ten. Real click-through rates vary widely with the query, ads, map packs and answer boxes, so treat the output as an order of magnitude.
The combined monthly search volume of the group of keywords you want one page or one cluster to rank for. Start with the total for ten to thirty closely related queries.
Rankings move slowly at first. The model uses a smooth ramp so early months earn a small share of the eventual gain, which is closer to what happens in practice than a straight line.
No. It is what a lead is worth to you on average: your close rate multiplied by average first-year revenue is a reasonable starting point.
